Abies koreana ‘Blauer Pfiff’

Abies koreana 'Blauer Pfiff' is a slow-growing, conical conifer with dense branching and exceptionally dazzling blue foliage. The cultivar originated as one of several seedlings treated with radioactive cobalt in Germany around 1975, resulting in intensly blue growth.

The needles of this Korean fir are beautifully colored blue green to silvery blue. Even very young plants have a large number of decorative cones on the branches. The cultivar has a spreading habit . It is suitable for smaller gardens, heath gardens, or elegant container plantings. The Korean fir also is frost-hardy and resistant to air pollution, making it ideal for large cities.
