Abies homolepis 'Wintegold' is a slow-growing evergreen conifer shrub with gold and green foliage, and black and purple strobili or cones. The Wintergold Nikko Fir (common name) grows well in full to mostly sunny conditions with regular to occasional watering. The fir adapts to various soil conditions. However, the fir does well in average, clay, or rich and well-drained soil. This fir is a good option if you are seeking something verticillium wilt resistant.

The needles will turn a yellow-green with the cold temperatures of winter. Nikko firs are reported to be the most pollution-resistant true firs.
