Why am I getting these emails? (2 Replies)

Posted January 9, 2014 at 1:32 pm

I have got four different people requesting this from me today. To my knowledge I have never requested to be subscribed to the ACS Central Region Mailing list.

Dave

1. Hi, List Maintainer, whoever you are– Perhaps everyone is starting to get “reply all” messages from other Conies who got your email about the mailing list–and I think your message meant that if we got it, we are already on the list and don’t need to let you know–right?
<div>
Maybe the next mass email might remind others that “reply all” means that everyone learns what’s on the reply-er’s mind–not always a good thing!
Thanks. I know this is something of a chronic ailment and perhaps incurable . .

Dave, This solicitation did not come from the ACS web site or anybody associated with it. The domain name associated with it is not ACS but private. I suspect it’s part of the CNR’s attempt to stage an election of a new president and director before the upcoming winter meeting of the BOD at the end of this month. I expect an explanation will follow shortly from those responsible.

Just spoke with Bill Barger who sent the email. It is not a scam, just a mistake. It was an attempt to contact those in the ACS Central Region before sending out a ballot for the Central Region Election. APOLOGIES for the confusion. Bill should have sent out a test email blast to just a few people such as myself first, then gotten feedback before he sent this out to so many ACS members in the Central Region.
