I love when the spring buds begin to pop! This is a shot from May 2014 – I can hardly wait!

What’s popping where you live?

There is some swelling of strobili on Thuja occidentalis, Thuja plicata, and Thuja standishii at The Holden Arboretum. Perhaps they will start shedding pollen later this week. The strobili are only about a millimeter long.

So, when I actually took a look around, I did find some action out there. Here’s a sample of what’s happening right now:
Tsuga canadensis ‘Ashfield Weeper’

Pinus parviflora ‘Hagoromo’

Picea abies ‘Spring Fire’

Three cheers for SPRING!

Hi deadbeat – thanks! Yes, those are my photos… shot at Iseli, for Iseli, so they require their mark in all electronic publishing. Just protecting their copyright. I have always tried to place the logo tastefully so that it is not terribly distracting while providing some image protection.
Cheers!
