Best practices for newly won ACS auction plants (10 Replies)

I would appreciate a picture of adventitious roots. I am familiar with the flare but I thought those woody roots were necessary? And what about the root mass itself? I have seen some tangled up messes that I have untangled before planting. For a newly received conifer it is best to up-pot? Your recommended soil mix too? Then how long in a pot before planting in the ground? I usually plant them directly into a big ceramic pot just because they are elevated, and I can see them better. AND I WILL NOT STEP ON THEM IN THE SNOW!
