Picea What (1 Replies)

Good day folks. Just thought I’d post a pic of one of my northern conifer finds. It is one of those weird creatures that gets more attractive the older it gets. Aside from a dwarf contorted form each shoot displays needles ranging from normal at the base of the new shoot and tapering to nothing at the tip . I’m not sure what species although I suspect p Glauca ??? I may have to wait for cone. It is now about 2 feet tall and probably 15 – 20 yrs old. Any thoughts? Bill

Hi Bill. I’m pretty sure that looks like a Picea glauca to me. A closeup of the the foliage would be great. I’ve seen several P. glauca cultivars with funny knobby terminal buds like those.
