Micro broom?? (2 Replies)

Greeting cone heads,

Been growing these dwarf spruce for years now……….made this group several years ago too……….all in all I have about 30-40 of these guys around in my gardens…….mostly shaped: tiered and tuned 🙂

Could this be some sort of micro witches broom?
Any thoughts would be great,

have not seen any others either……….besides the fact that it’s tighter, it a bit lighter in color too……..then again, are there not 100’s of brooms off of spruce?

Yes, I definitely think you’ve got a broom there and you are correct that a number of miniature Picea glauca var. albertiana have been selected and named from mutations similar to this. Nonetheless, it’s your discovery, Keep an eye on it, let it grow some more and get it named and propagated.
