CCOY shipping (7 Replies)

Who is in charge of shipping the CCOYs this year? I had someone ask me when his is going to ship, as he’s not seen it yet.

Hi Neil, I recommend contacting Dennis directly. He’s very good and responding to any and all inquiries. I know that in the past, the plants got shipped directly from the growers. Dennis would know which growers have which plants.

I just got my Pinus cembra – it shipped from Iseli. Be aware that it was planted almost 3″ too deep. Unfortunately that seems to happen more often than not. It’s a gorgeous little specimen, though!

For anyone else out there who is curious, I wanted to mention that I also received my plants this week.

My Pinus cembra ‘Herman’ finally died – it never recovered from shipping (even though it looked fine when I planted it). The tiny branches were down flat against the trunk, which worried me since I understood the branches should grow upwards, and they never moved and eventually all fell off. Any ideas how to go about getting a replacement?

I must say I was a bit disappointed with the quality of my Metasequoia when it arrived, but, at least, it survives. I don’t think the ACS did us any favors by shipping the plants so late in the season.

I would email ccoy@conifersociety.org to ask about a replacement.
