Addicted Conifer Syndrome (3 Replies)

Why do we want more and more conifers for our gardens? Is it a matter of shape, color, growth potential? It can just be about bragging rights, right? For me it’s all about shape, color, and needle texture–oh yes, and scent.

I have to say that Ron has this addiction and it progressed fast. If you were to visit his home you would understand. Now conifers in containers are his passion.

I agree with Ron – I don’t consider myself a collector – I like to try for interesting and pleasing combinations in the garden, using other foliage plants as well as conifers.

I’ll admit it. I’m a hard-core collector. I’m always on the lookout for conifers that are so rare that very few people have them yet. My focus is miniatures and clumpy-contorted cultivars. Nearly 800 conifers into my obsession, I am happy to say that I have some really cool items.
