Abies lasiocarpa 'Glacier' (1 Replies)

Posted February 2, 2017 at 5:44 pm

I am getting confusing information on this tree. Some say it is A. l. ‘Logan Pass’. But that does not add up with the nursery tag of 4″-6″ annually. Is my tree incorrectly named?

I have solved half of the problem myself with further research. The Royal Horticultural Society’s Encyclopedia of Conifers says in volume one that it is a synonym of Abies lasiocarpa ‘Logan Pass’. There is an error somewhere as the two do not look alike. Mine is conical and L. P. is a little bun. Another source says that my conifer is also known as A. l. ‘Glacier BLUE’. What remains is how this error happened in the first place.
