Picea pungens ‘Gebelle’s Golden Spring’ is an upright, pyramidal selection of Colorado spruce with a more-or-less species-typical outline and branch structure. In spring, this conifer springs to life with a flush of butter-yellow new growth that begins to soften to blue-green after around 4 to 6 weeks, depending on spring temperatures. After 10 years or growth, a mature specimen will measure 6 feet (2 m) tall and 4 feet (1.2 m) wide, an annual growth rate of 6 to 8 inches (15 – 20 cm).

This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in the early 2000s from a field of Colorado spruce seedlings in Huron, Ohio, USA by Anthony and Ann Gebelle who operated a small nursery there.
