$1 Admission Day at Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens

Rimu, MCBG, conifers
Dacrydium cupressinum in the heather garden at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens

MCBG, an ACS Reference Garden in Fort Bragg, CA, is holding a community appreciation day on April 26, 2015. Termed ‘Retro Sunday’, they’re rolling back admission to $1, the price charged when the Gardens opened 50 years ago. This is a great opportunity to see MCBG, enjoy the spectacular rhododendron collection and see some pretty special conifers (don’t miss that Dacrydium cuppressinum to the right in the photo above!) For more information, see the Gardens’ website.

I love it – Retro Sunday! Sounds like fun and based on the beautifully composed image above, it looks like a very nice garden to visit.

Randall it’s a wonderful garden. That Dacrydium is on of the most asked-about plants in the garden, but there are other wonderful conifer specimens as well. They are also famous for their rhododendron and heaths and heathers collections.
